The environment, transformed into artistic expression.

Ultrasuono perceives the surrounding environment and uses it to modulate audio and video signals in real time. Space becomes part of the artwork, and the environment makes every performance unique.

Sensors and environment, infinite possibilities.

Currently, Ultrasuono integrates light, temperature, and humidity sensors connected to an effects matrix that dynamically processes the incoming audio signal, generating ever-changing results.

We are working to further expand the system by introducing new sensors and new ways of interpreting the environment, with the goal of offering an even more complete, expressive, and creative tool.

01 Acquisition

The system captures the audio signal through the built in microphone or an external source, along with environmental data.

02 Elaboration

The microprocessor uses an effects matrix controlled by environmental data to alter the sound.

03 output

The device outputs the modified audio; it also exports raw digital data via the MIDI protocol.

Ultrasuono combined with guitar pedals

Ultrasuono can be integrated with digital instruments, external microphones, and modules to shape sound through the environment.

Doing field recording with Ultrasuono means exploring the environment to capture new and unrepeatable sounds.

Ultrasuono connected to a computer sending MIDI data

The MIDI output allows Ultrasuono to transmit sensor data, enabling performances connected to the surrounding environment.

ULTRABOARD, ready for every use.

Ultrasuono has been designed as a flexible and versatile instrument, intended to adapt to different ways of use and to leave room for personal experimentation.

For this reason, together with the student team PoliTeK, we developed a compact motherboard that integrates everything needed to allow users to explore new creative possibilities.

The device includes an SD card slot, a USB C port for charging and MIDI output, jack inputs and outputs for stereo line level audio, an OLED display, an encoder for menu navigation, input and output gain control, a built in battery, a 1/4 inch mount for stands and tripods, and an integrated electret microphone.

We are currently working to further expand connectivity with external microphones, musical instruments, and new interaction modes.

Ultrasuono is an evolving project. If you have ideas or features you would like to see, get in touch with us.

We enjoy building this device together with those who imagine it and will use it.
